Situated just inland from Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía is one of the best known residential areas on the coast. Nueva Andalucía was founded by the famous José Banús, who landed in Marbella in 1962.

Where is Nueva Andalucia located?

Turning inland from the A-7 coastal road and passing the entrance to the Golden Mile and Marbella town, just opposite the famous Puerto Banús, you enter one of the largest residential areas around Marbella.

As well as being a golfer’s dream, the area is also very popular with families.

In essence, Nueva Andalucía stretches across a large valley. The valley is so large that it is also home to what has come to be known as “The Golf Valley”, which with its three major championship courses, is the heart of the sport on the Costa del Sol.

Its streets are very well kept and maintained creating a magnificent neighbourhood made up of luxurious apartment complexes, luxury townhouses and private villas.

From Malaga airport it is a 45 minute drive on the AP-7 toll motorway in the direction of Algeciras, which is 57.4 km away. If you are coming from Gibraltar Airport, it is an hour’s drive on the AP-7 towards Malaga, which is 67.9 km.

Nueva Andalucia Beach – El Duque beach, in Marbella

This beach is adjacent to Puerto Banús, the most iconic tourist centre on the Costa del Sol. It is one of the most interesting beaches for visitors and the most famous in Marbella.
It has golden sand and tropical vegetation with an abundance of palm trees, making it a paradisiacal area. It is 1,050 metres long and 30 metres wide.

On the Duque beach are two of the best clubs in Marbella: the Ocean Club and the Buddha Beach.

Golf in Nueva Andalucía

Nueva Andalucía, also known as the Golf Valley, is an international mecca for golfers, with three world-class championship courses.

• Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, was founded in 1968, situated in the lower part of the valley and closer to Puerto Banús. With a membership fee of €22,000, membership is only available to those who are recommended by two members or are a family member of one. There is a dress code and behavioural code which must be followed at all times, and the booking includes 18 holes, buggy, access to the restaurant, cafeteria, locker and sauna.

• Los Naranjos Golf Club, which opened in 1977 in the western part of Nueva Andalucía. The annual membership fee for the club is €2500, which entitles you to unlimited golf and other exclusive member benefits. This prestigious old golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior; after its inauguration it quickly gained popularity around the world. It is considered one of the best golf courses in Spain.

• Aloha Golf Club, with two courses, 18 holes and a 9 hole, par 3. It has hosted the PGA European Tour 3 times since 2007 and is known as one of the best golf courses in Spain. With a golf course of 6273 metres in length, it offers players the beautiful experience designed by Javier Arana; with the idea that while playing golf they can enjoy the flowering of its trees throughout the year, it is a private club, but non-members can play during certain hours almost all year round.

Things to do in Nueva Andalucia

Turtle Lake (Lago de las Tortugas)

It is a green park area with a large lake with abundant vegetation ideal for picnics with your family and friends. Some people even fish here, but it is not that popular as there are not many species of fish in the lake.

Although the name refers to turtles, they no longer inhabit the lake, but we can find ducks and other species.

Centro Plaza

It is a shopping centre located next to the bullring of Nueva Andalucía. Here you can find restaurants of varied cuisine, shops, beauty salons, real estate agencies, gyms… There is easy-access parking within sight: open air or underground.

Puerto Banús

The famous Puerto Banús is where you can find all the best high-end clothing brands such as Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton and Hermes. There are also a variety of restaurants to choose from that vary in cuisine, such as Italian, Lebanese, Greek, Argentinian and more.

As for nightlife, Puerto Banús is the place to be, with plenty of restaurants, bars and nightclubs to choose from for nights and weekends. During the summer months, Puerto Banús hosts a large street market in Plaza Antonio Banderas, where you can find boutique clothing and accessories stalls, food and drink stalls, children’s toy stalls and much more to enjoy.
